Museum for Wood Culture-A Tadao Ando Design

designed by Tadao Ando.

Found in the forests of Mikata-gun in northern Hyogo on a 415 acre site and built by the internationally-acclaimed architect Tadao Ando.
This museum was created to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the National Day of Wood, a designated celebration by Emperor Showa to commemorate the forests lost during World War Two. The museum was inaugurated in 1994. Its architecture and exhibits are dedicated to the role of wood, Japanese forests, and international culture.
Admission fee is free! They have many wooden toys, a library, and some wood toy making workshops. (Fee charged)
